Bloomsburg Softball Drops Pair to Shippensburg

SHIPPENSBURG--The Bloomsburg University softball team dropped a pair of games to Shippensburg University on Wednesday by scores of 4-3 and 2-0.
In game one, the Huskies took a 1-0 lead in the second inning when Jess Rosin (Brooklyn, NY/James Madison) singled and later scored on a double by Tiff Corliss (Lewisburg/Mifflinburg).
Bloomsburg extended its lead to 3-0 with two run in the top of the sixth inning. Tara Reed (Williamsport/Williamsport) had a key two-out single driving in both runs.
In the bottom of the seventh inning the Lady Raiders rallied and scored four runs on five hits off of the Huskies Ashley Lynn (Riverside/Danville) to get the win.
Reed and Lynn each went 2-3 in the game with Reed getting two runs batted in.
In game two, the Huskies managed six hits, but could not produce any runs. Bloomsburg left the bases loaded in the first inning and also had two runs left on in the fifth inning.
Bloomsburg pitcher Sheelin Fisher (Coplay/Allentown Central Catholic) allowed just four hits and single runs in the fifth and sixth innings. The Huskies had the tying run at the plate with one out, but Shippensburg retired the Huskies without allowing a run.
Reed finished 2-4 in the game for Bloomsburg.
The Huskies, 21-10, 7-5 in the PSAC East, will host Mansfield on Friday at 2:30 p.m.
